In Los Angeles, a sum of $10,000 would cover either a small kitchen remodel or a partial update of the space—aesthetic alterations, perhaps, like paint or new trim; fixtures that wouldn’t be out of place in a modern home; or simply updated cabinet hardware. But if you wanted a serious, down-to-the-studs remodel that included not only the aesthetics of the space but the functional elements inside it—appliances, countertops, cabinetry, and a floor that wasn’t a hazard to your health—that project would cost considerably more.

It could also mean a change in flooring. Any or all of the above could happen in a kitchen remodel over a span of several weeks or months. If I were doing a kitchen remodel, I'd do the following: Prioritized the things that obviously need upgrading, went with some mid-range materials that are not too exciting, and invested in labor that I thought had decent skills but wasn't going to break the bank.
The cabinetry is usually the biggest expense in a kitchen remodel. When it comes to paying for materials, features that you need but that aren't standard, and installation, you can spend a lot of money on your cabinets. The better the quality, the more your cabinetry can cost. And just because you said you wanted cabinetry in your remodel plan doesn't mean we won't be up against our old nemeses: stock cabinetry and the semi-custom kind.
A budget of $100,000 is for the most part enough for an all-inclusive kitchen remodel in Los Angeles, enabling you to pull off a high-end renovation. That amount can cover a good many of the remodel essentials (let's call them that for now) like custom cabinetry, superb countertops, top-tier appliances, and luxe finishes as a good many of the kitchen needs (and wants) that you might have in mind. And a good many of these good things also require some structural (or nearly structural) alterations and an upgrade (or nearly an upgrade) of your plumbing and electrical systems.
In Los Angeles, a kitchen makeover with a $50,000 budget can fully suffice, provided you are aiming for anything at the mid-range level. This kind of payment can comfortably cover nearly all of the bases that make a kitchen functional and aesthetically pleasing: cabinets, countertops, appliances, flooring, and fixtures. That said, our local market is notorious for holding sway over so many renovation budgets, and the costs for everything from labor to finishes can really add up. Despite the supposed national averages that various remodeling guides like to toss around, the very same kitchen remodel can (and does) vary quite a bit from one set of local circumstances to another. On top of that, if your financial reach is a good deal beyond $50,000, then going the high-end route is all too likely to drive your costs well beyond that.
The remodeling of a kitchen in Los Angeles is least expensive during the late fall and early winter months—such as November and December. This time frame is viewed as the off-season when construction and remodeling projects tend to be at a lull. Because there is not as much remodeling work going on, most contractors are much more available and can often charge lower rates than during peak demand times. Also, many suppliers are trying to get rid of a bunch of materials pre-inventory cleanout, and quite a few offers do come their way in the off-season.

Most people pay through a combination of savings, home equity loans or lines of credit, personal loans, and credit cards. Some pay with contractor- or retailer-provided financing.
